Red Fish
Im going to Elmers island in Louisiana, Are the Red fish good from the sohre there?
im gonna be floundering at night and fishing during the day and was wondering if the red fish are very good around elmers island…Bay side or gulf side
Both sides they have the potential to be good. I’m sorta from the Grand Isle/Barataria area but I have fished all over Louisiana coastal waters.
To be honest with you man, a lot of red fish sort of school, or swim/hunt in groups. It could be AMAZING for 2 hours, nonstop fish – then you may not catch another one for days.
There was this channel me and my dad found leaving Barataria bay heading towards Grand Isle. We saw the reds splashing around going NUTS! We started fishing and with the craziest of luck we were pulling reds in nonstop for hours. We had to stop because we were both exhausted and couldn’t hold our poles anymore. We took our redfish home and swore regardless of soreness, we’d be out there the next day.
Next day came, I hurt so bad all over from pulling in bull reds… But we went out to that spot and fished there, all around there, and in big circles up to a quarter mile away… We spent the whole day trying to find them again. They were gone.
They’ve been caught around Elmer’s Island. I guess it’s just your luck man. Maybe try a Carolina rig with 2 hooks. Use shrimp on one and some kind of bait fish on the other. Check it often b/c of crabs…
