[AUS] Information about types of fish to be caught on 9″ rod.?

Hello all,

I am currently in Perth, WA, and have recently upgraded from a small 6″ rod to a 9″ rod. I am looking to catch something bigger than the usual Whiting & Herring, that I catch off of the local Warnbro beach. However, don’t know where to start!!

Could someone please offer advise on
A. What types of fish to catch
B. How to catch said fish.

At the moment, I have my 9″ rod rigged for whiting, and am having some success – but their hardly big enough for a feed!!

I am presuming that it is a surf beach.
Having a 9 foot rod will allow you to get to the back of the surf, which with a 6 foot rod you might be restricted to do so. Try using 3 gang hooks with a biggish sinker with a whole pilchard. This could produce tarwhine and the odd tailer. If you want tailer you will have to put in the hours either early morning or at night. Another bait along with pilchards that have produced for me in the past is whitebait and bloodworms.
