collapsible fishing rod
Where to find components for a lizard noose?

The goal here is to create what amounts to a collapsible lizard noose. I’m looking for a rod that would have a total length of six to eight feet, and has segments of less than two feet (that could fit in a backpack). The rod would ideally have snap-together segments (ie. fishing pole), but it seems fishing poles are hard to find with such short segments. The pole would need to be of minimal girth – that is, 1/2 inch or less in diameter

Also, though it’s not as important, I’m looking for a soft-string snare or noose mechanism (camouflaged, but also soft, so as not to injure the animals). I’d probably tie my own string on, but it would be great to have an easy-to-use noose that can be quickly applied to the rod without tying knots.

Any help in locating a store or website from which to buy these items, or even a place to start looking, would be very much appreciated!!!

You might do better with cheap bamboo rods…. that come in 3 or 4 sections, or a rod that extends out…. such as intertidal fisherman use from shore.

As to the noose material, I always felt it important to have stiff string….such as waxed string or heavy fishing line…so if one misses the noose remains open and retains its shape.

To catch lizards in most states, a fishing license is required, and certain sensitive species (threatened or endangered) are prohibited from being caught. In addition, selling native reptiles is often either illegal or state-regulated in many states.
